Here’s what to wear to work this autumn
It’s time to hit the shops at Cabot Circus
Looking for some work outfit ideas to help you revive your office wardrobe this autumn? Look no further! We’ve searched through all the autumn trends hitting the shops and found the new season fashion picks from your favourite stores in Cabot Circus. Nine-‘til-five style: nailed. Autumn trend: classic 70s
Ladylike looks rule this season and this signature Seventies outfit is a no-brainer way to nail it: the sharp blazer, the chic blouse and the swishy midi skirt. It’s grown-up and classic, so perfect for the office, but don’t think that you still can’t have fun with it. Play with colour combinations, such as of-the-moment tan, blush pink and autumnal red-brown. Look to Seventies detailing and fabrics such as pussy-bows, statement oversized sleeves, bold prints and corduroy. Monki is really rocking the 70s trend, with corduroy featuring heavily in their new season roundup. Your key accessory? It’s got to be a silk scarf or a chic structured bag.
Who doesn’t love a floral dress? If you’ve lived in a bright and breezy one all summer, then this is how you can continue your dress love affair into fall. The way to make it work for colder days is look for midi length styles with longer sleeves in a darker base, like black. Choose bold, graphic floral patterns or stick to ditzy prints, whatever you prefer. Toughen up the look with a pair of Western-style ankle boots – they’ll still work in the office, while giving your outfit a cool, laidback vibe. Opt for a bare leg now, then throw on the opaques as it gets chilly.
Our picks: embossed flower gown, £59.99, Mango; Acne Studios Jensen 40 black Chelsea boots, £410, Harvey Nichols Autumn trend: suits Suiting: doesn’t sound particularly groundbreaking for officewear, but stick with us. This season, tailoring takes on a new twist. And it’s all thanks to the humble belt. For quite a while now, the oversized blazer has reigned supreme. And it’ll still play an important part in your autumn wardrobe, but make way for the new cinched-in silhouette too. Keep the blazer single breasted, and look for matching trousers that finish just above the ankle. If you feel like making a fashion statement then opt for a suit in tan or beige. Zara have some great tailoring in store at the moment – from tan blazers to gingham trousers. We’re really loving the check prints around at the moment, such as classic Prince of Wales or gingham. Now grab a black belt (skinny or wide, we’re not fussed) and cinch in your waist. Ready for the boardroom or the bar…
Office outfits sorted. Now let’s talk commuter coats. A longline wool coat is a great investment and will last you season after season (plus it’s great for keeping you warm while waiting for the delayed 07.34). Look for tailored, belted or super structured styles in navy, khaki or cream (maybe save this for dry days though!). Don’t forget about the classic trench either. And for a new take on the leather jacket, choose on-trend tan in a belted style.
We asked personal shopper Iona what new-season items she’s excited to see for autumn: ‘I do find myself attracted to the fairytale florals on the Red Valentino dresses we have here in store. Another favourite of mine is the grey Dries Van Noten suit. Who knew a plain corporate suit could be given a complete makeover with a few burnt orange roses?’ To book your personal shopping appointment, email email@example.com.
