Five Guys began in 1986 when Jerry and Janie Murrell offered sage advice to their four sons: "Start a business or go to college." The boys chose business, and the Murrell family soon opened a carry-out burger joint in Arlington, Va.
Now, more than 20 years later, there are more than 1,200 locations across North America and the United Kingdom and more than 1,500 units in development. Five Guys continues to receive media attention and has grown a cult-like following around the world.
