Cabot Circus is pleased to annouce its Charity of the Year for 2019/2020 is Children's Hospice South West.
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) help and support children and their families who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Families come to its hospices for planned respite and a rare opportunity for a break, but they also turn to them for emergency care and, when the time comes, for palliative and end-of-life care.
CHSW’s services are free to families because CHSW believes that nothing should get in the way of very sick children receiving the very best care. So, with little government funding, the charity relies on the generosity of their supporters to deliver its promise to ‘make the most of short and precious lives across the South West’.
CHSW has three hospices across the South West. Little Bridge House in Barnstaple (opened 1995), Charlton Farm in Bristol (opened 2007) and Little Harbour in St Austell (opened 2011).
The local hospice, Charlton Farm, is nestled in magnificent parkland, just west of the city of Bristol. It provides a secluded and beautiful setting in which families can take some time out and just enjoying spending time as a family. It has been converted from old farm buildings and barns, but with the interiors purpose-built and equipped with the children in mind.
We also work with Key4Life offering work experience and support getting young people back into work and will continue to work with LinkAge and Communty of Purpose by hosting events in the centre and sponsorship of the Bristol Young Hero Awards.
